| Direct marketing can be used as an alternative to or in
conjunction with auction selling. The facility enables growers to market
their clip, or parts of, at their discretion, enabling them to take
advantage of favourable market conditions. The process involves issuing valuations of your wool on receipt of test certificates. Should all or any of these valuations meet your approval, a sale is negotiated with exporters/mills that meets, or exceeds, your reserve. This option was used extensively before electronic selling and is still more common. It has the advantage of not publishing a price before taking bids, as is the case with electronic selling. |
